About Me

My photo
I am married and have two beautiful daughters. I have dabbled in numerous different crafts over the years. I haven't done any paper-crafting in a very long time. About 10 years ago I picked up a crochet hook and started a blanket for a friend. Like with many of us life got in the way and the project was moved to a box and never completed. In 2019, I severely broke my ankle and was confined to the couch for around 6 months. I picked my crochet hooks back up and haven't looked back. I still haven't finished that first blanket, but I have completed several others. I have even attempted to write a couple different patterns. So you will see this blog take on a new look as I start posting my crochet projects.

Pin Cushin Gnomes

I am in love with gnomes and decided that I wanted to crochet some. I needed to think about who I could make them for so I decided on my mom. I thought I could make her a set to take to her Sewing club pincushion exchange or keep them for herself. After I finished crocheting them I sent her a photo (before I sewed the hat to the body). She loved them. I needed to find out how to make them into a pincushion before I sewed them together. She ended up sending me ground up walnut shells and I poured them into a baby sock and stitched it closed. After that I surrounded the baby sock with poly-fil. I ended up making 2 sets. One set for my mom and one for her to exchange. After she shared the photo with a friend her friend asked if I could make her a set that didn't need to be a pincushion. They were a lot of fun to make. Mom's pincushion exchange is on the 5th and I am excited to hear about who ended up with the dark teal/light teal set. Mom's set is the blue/yellow ones and her friends is the cream/pink ones.

A crocheted pincushion

Every year my mom participates in a pincushion exchange with her sewing club. This year she requested that I make a pincushion for her to share because she was running out of ideas. She told me I could make whatever I wanted. I searched and found a pattern tutorial by Cherry Heart for this beautiful African Flower Pincushion. I used scrap yarn from a temperature blanket I made for my dad.
